Our Overview
Why should you buy:
This device is a Best Seller in Bluetooth Cell Phone Headsets and has more than 30k reviews. The current price is incredibly low for the sound quality, durability, and overall quality that the Senso headphones have so it’s an amazing value.
We would give it a plus for extra Bass, though some users would like to be able to turn it off without using phone’s / player’s equalizer). The construction and design is very practical as well.
For the price, you get a good set of additional items such as an extra dual lighting/micro USB cable and a car charger.
Let’s go through a more detailed look of SENSO ActivBuds S-250 sport earphones.
SENSO ActivBuds S-250 Bluetooth Waterproof Earbuds Review
Style and feel.
On first look, the Senso earbuds have a pretty stylish look. How well do they holdup during workouts? The ear hooks do not have a ‘lock-in’ position, but one of three pairs of provided earbuds will fit securely into you ear canal and will hold the earphones firmly in place. in other words, they won’t fall out.
And for added measure, the over ear hooks will keep your earbuds more secure as is customary for sport headphones.
Battery (8/10).
The Senso sport headphones have a good battery (Lithium-ion Polymer 85mAh) that will support your active lifestyle for up to 8 hours of stated music playback. In practice, it would be around 6-7 hours of active listening. There’s also a dual Port USB Car Charger included as well, which is useful if you forget to charge your device at home.
When do I need to charge the Activebuds S-250?
When the battery runs out you’ll be notified via a voice prompt in your earbuds. Also, a red light will blink on the right side of the earbuds. A nice small feature is that you can also monitor battery life on a paired mobile device screen.
How to pair Senso earbuds for the first time
You should hold the the logo on the right earbuds, which is a multifunction button, for 5 seconds, turn on the bluetooth on your phone or other device and in the search list of available devices you should see the Senso earphones displayed and available to connect.
The Waterproof rating is IPX7.
This is a good choice for sport earbuds as IPX7 rated materials will fully protect the device from sweat and unexpected rain. Can you swim with the Senso Activebuds? Well, no. IPX7 can secure against accidental immersion in water for up to 30 minutes plus rain sweat etc…, but it’s not sufficient for extended immersion in water – such as when swimming.
Sound quality
Clear and full sound. The Sound quality for the price is quite nice, much better than one would expect. The Basses are full, the mids loud and clear, and the highs wont hurt your ears either.
Aside: You can factory reset the earphones by pressing the power button for 7 seconds if needed. While the earbuds won’t reproduce the full audio spectrum perfectly as many manufacturers claim, the Senso is still perfect for active sport and good enough for all but the most discerning audiophiles.
Bluetooth.
Senso wireless earphones have built in Bluetooth v4.1 together with EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) which was first introduced with bluetooth 2.0 for a faster data transfer and lower power consumption.
Working distance is about 20-30 feet (~10 meters). And as for all bluetooth devices, an empty path between the bluetooth device and the earbuds is ideal. Minimize obstructions if possible.
Controls and functions.
On the right piece there is a large multifunction button – on the side with the logo on it – for pause, play, turning the headphones on/off.
On the same right earpiece you’ll find two smaller buttons on top for adjusting volume or skipping tracks. To skip a track forward or backwards, press and hold the appropriate volume button.
What’s in the box?
In the package you will find:
- Bluetooth earphones
- a round firm case for carrying
- clip for shortening cord
- short USB to Micro USB charging cable
- a dual lighting/micro USB cable (for android and iPhone)
- car charger
- 3 pairs of buds for different sizes of ear – Small, Medium, Large
- User Manual
Additional features.
Comfort. They fit snug and you can wear the Senso Activebuds earbuds with sunglasses. No “cord noise” is heard while running a few miles. The device is amazingly light comparing to other wireless bluetooth headphones of a similar price.
Noise cancellation:
Senso Bluetooth headphones are noise isolating earbuds, but not noise cancelling. They don’t have active noise cancellation as it is technologically harder to implement in earbuds, and not cost effective for the price of Senso ActivBuds. So you’ll still be able to hear outside noise, which I actually prefer because I like being aware of my surroundings
Phone conversation quality is good but not great – they have CVC 6.0 noise reduction technology to keep voices clear.
What we’re worried about:
– The sound quality of calls isn’t great when outside in a windy environment. That said, pretty much all windy conversations suck.
– For people who sweat more in active workouts, there’s a chance that the over ear hooks can become a bit loose during extended workouts.
